Maqbara. A Funerary Archaeology and History of al-Andalus is the first collective and comprehensive volume dealing with the funerary world in al-Andalus from a multidisciplinary and transversal point of view. It brings together specialists from different disciplines (Archaeology, History, Arabic Epigraphy and studies of written documentation) whose contributions offer an updated overview of burial spaces and practices and constitute a reference work on the subject. The main aims are to study the peculiarities of funerary rituals and the typologies of graves - together with their exceptions - in a specific local context (al-Andalus), as well as to explore the potential of bio-archeological studies to study daily life, demography and standards of living.
