ビジネスの持続可能性、倫理、企業家精神百科事典 全3巻
Markman, Gideon (ed.-in-chief), World Scientific Encyclopedia of Business Sustainability, Ethics and Entrepreneurship. 3 vols. 1136 pp. 2022:2 (World Scientific, SI) <673-4>
ISBN 978-981-12-4158-1 hard ¥204,820.- (税込) US$ 950.00 *

Volume 1: This volume is the culmination of many discussions among the editors over the years, especially at the Sustainability, Ethics and Entrepreneurship (SEE) Conference, related to the growth and institutionalization of environmental and social entrepreneurship. Research on these two forms of entrepreneurial action has tried to keep pace with what is occurring in the field. While the research is diverse, attracting scholars across many disciplines and from all parts of the world, it is still in the formative stages. This volume seeks to take stock of the literature and report the state of the art in environmental and social entrepreneurship. In particular, it seeks to explore new theoretical directions that blend traditional notions of economic efficiency and social welfare and new ways of measuring and empirically testing these phenomena. The chapters in this volume demonstrate the diverse philosophical, methodological, and theoretical techniques to studying these forms of entrepreneurship. We expect this volume will contribute to this burgeoning research and that researchers will engage in theory development for the foreseeable future, as new business models are developed, tested, abandoned, and evolved.Volume 2: This volume spotlights cutting-edge research, innovative methodologies, and provocative thinking by organizational scholars and leaders committed to advancing the global sustainability agenda. Each chapter focuses on advancing one or more United Nations (UN) 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The chapter sequence follows a general logic of SDG numerical order and breadth. Overall, this compendium provides critical insights, practical strategies and tools, and timely inspiration to motivate individual and collective engagement with and achievement of the SDGs. With a decade remaining to achieve the 2030 Agenda, this volume supports sustainable development globally, through: identification of key challenges; theoretical, empirical, and practical exploration of potential solutions; and sharing of actionable findings. Each chapter makes an impactful contribution by spotlighting opportunities for advancing best-in-class efforts toward the achievement of the SDGs. Chapters represent diverse scholarly perspectives and include a representative range of focal SDGs, organizational contexts, applications, and initiatives from Africa, Asia, Europe, North and South America, and spanning national borders.Volume 3: Historically religious institutions have been at the forefront of social change, yet religion and spirituality are rarely discussed in contemporary entrepreneurship research. We challenge this oversight and argue that by ignoring the fundamental principles that define an overwhelming majority of people all over the world, our scholarship risks being partial, incomplete and thus misleading. This volume presents a selection of entrepreneurship perspectives - studies, essays and analyses - that integrate religion and spirituality with social change. We have deliberately sought chapters that are edgy and novel, to give different nuances on this integration of religion and spirituality with entrepreneurship for social change.

女性、ビジネス、法 2022年版
Women, Business and the Law 2022. 134 pp. 2022:3 (World Bank, US) <673-410>
ISBN 978-1-4648-1817-2 paper ¥8,797.- (税込) US$ 43.95 *

Women, Business and the Law 2022 is the eighth in a series of annual studies measuring the laws and regulations that affect women's economic opportunity in 190 economies. The project presents eight indicators structured around women's interactions with the law as they move through their careers: Mobility, Workplace, Pay, Marriage, Parenthood, Entrepreneurship, Assets, and Pension. Amid a global pandemic that threatens progress toward gender equality, 'Women, Business and the Law 2022' identifies barriers to women's economic participation and encourages reform of discriminatory laws. This year, the study also includes pilot research related to childcare and implementation of the law. By examining the economic decisions women make throughout their working lives, as well as the pace of reform over the past 50 years, Women, Business and the Law makes an important contribution to research and policy discussions about the state of women's economic empowerment. The indicators build evidence of the critical relationship between legal gender equality and women's employment and entrepreneurship. Data in 'Women, Business and the Law 2022' are current as of October 1, 2021.

Brett, Jeanne M. / Mitchell, Tyree D., Searching for Trust in the Global Economy. 256 pp. 2022:4 (Rotman-UTP Pub., CN) <673-414>
ISBN 978-1-4875-2795-2 hard ¥7,103.- (税込) US$ 32.95 *

Trust is the foundation for strong working relationships, but the way people from different cultures search for and decide to trust varies. Searching for Trust in the Global Economy describes these cultural differences from the perspective of 82 managers from 33 different countries in four regions of the world. It addresses the current global business climate with insights from managers describing how the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the process of searching for and deciding to trust new business partners. Jeanne M. Brett and Tyree D. Mitchell propose a simple framework that explains the cultural differences in deciding to trust new business partners. They suggest that the key to understanding cultural differences in the process lies in the interplay between cultural levels of trust and "tightness-looseness," or the degree to which a culture strongly enforces its norms. They explain how searching for and deciding to trust is different in the high-trust, loose cultures of the West, the high-trust, tight cultures in East Asia, the low-trust, tight cultures in the Middle East/South Asia, and the low-trust, loose cultures in Latin America. Searching for Trust in the Global Economy is based on managers' experiences building new business relationships around the world, but its practical advice for searching for and deciding to trust is useful not only for business leaders but also for government, not-for-profit, and other leaders who are responsible for building new relationships in the global economy.

Chakravorti, Nirjhar, Digital Transformation: A Strategic Structure for Implementation. 112 pp. 2022:6 (Routledge, UK) <673-415>
ISBN 978-1-03-222021-5 hard ¥29,914.- (税込) GB£ 105.00 *
ISBN 978-1-03-222019-2 paper ¥7,404.- (税込) GB£ 25.99 *

With the advent of digital technologies, society is reshaping itself radically. In the last decade, digital technologies have brought fundamental changes in the industry and business environment. The holistic socioeconomic and industrial changes are a result of general-purpose technology aspects of digital transformation, which are rare and have inherent capabilities of self-transformation to bring long-term benefits across the entire global business environment. After the steam engine, electric generator and printing press, the recent development of digital transformation has created an opportunity with extensive sustainable and incremental influence for disruption and renovation. However, the most important difference between digital transformation and the previous general-purpose technologies such as steam engines and electric generators is the pace of technology's penetration across the globe. To cope with the accelerated speed of global digitization, the digital transformation process should be accepted, adopted and adapted across society and business utilizing a multi-dimensional strategy. This book illustrates a strategic structure that covers Digital Challenges for Industries, Applicability for Digital Transformation, Digital Transformation Framework, People and Organization Structure, Capability Delivery Activities and Life Cycle Benefits. How will businesses embrace digital transformation? How will organizations formulate a digital transformation strategy? How will they invest in digital technologies? To answer these questions, a strategic structure is created which can provide guidelines to businesses to create a framework for digital transformation that includes strategy, process, governance and funding. The exponential growth in data capacity (storage, process and communication) due to rapid digitalization has created infinite opportunities and different dimensions to businesses. Digital platforms have enabled alternative business models by deconstructing the traditional value chains. Agile concepts driven by design thinking have brought innovative perspectives with an environment of boundless disruption. To run a company with sustainability and manage disruptions more consciously, the adoption of a digital platform with an appropriate strategy is the only viable option. Digital transformation (DX) goals and strategies should be in line with a company's business objectives. The strategic structure explained in the book is a global framework that can be adopted by any profit or nonprofit organization. Like any other transformational process, digital transformation has created structural tension between "old" and "new". In this tension, employees play a large role and their clarity of thought regarding the transformation process is of paramount interest. To overcome this tension, companies need to orient as learning organizations, which will provide opportunities for growth in an ambidextrous environment, embraced with a digital ecosystem. The book explains how the structural tension between old and new can be mitigated by effectively involving all stakeholders in the transformation process.

Near the end of the 20th Century, the leadership concept radically evolved away from the traditional concept of accomplishing work through others. Unfortunately, too many professionals unconsciously still have faulty traditional assumptions that can get them, their teams, and their organizations in trouble. The author has researched the evolution of leadership and summarizes seven contemporary principles, twenty-six underlying leadership beliefs, and nine crucial practices of 21st Century Leadership. While too many leadership books focus on qualities, DePaul explains specific behaviors for practicing leadership. The second edition includes new research about leadership and leadership development. With the pandemic, organizations have had to rely more on effective leadership to build high-performing teams, often at a distance. Training departments have had to radically update how they develop employees at all levels, and executive coaches have transitioned to virtual client support. With all these environmental changes as well as new social pressures on organizations to embrace diversity, equity, and inclusion, organizations need to change how they lead and avoid allowing their culture to develop by chance.

Dixon, Andrew, Practical Guide to IT Problem Management. (IT Pro Practice Notes) 90 pp. 2022:5 (Auerbach, US) <673-419>
ISBN 978-1-03-221729-1 hard ¥19,085.- (税込) GB£ 66.99 *
ISBN 978-0-367-63622-7 paper ¥4,270.- (税込) GB£ 14.99 *

Some IT organisations seem to expend all their energy firefighting - dealing with incidents as they arise and fixing, or patching over, the breakage. In organisations like this, restarting computers is seen as a standard method to resolve many issues. Perhaps the best way to identify whether an organisation understands problem management is to ask what they do after they have restarted the computer. If restarting the computer fixes the issue, it is very tempting to say that the incident is over and the job is done. Problem management recognises that things do not improve if such an approach is taken. Such organisations are essentially spending their time running to stay in the same place.Written to help IT organisations move forward, Practical Guide to IT Problem Management presents a combination of methodologies including understanding timelines and failure modes, drill down, 5 whys and divide and conquer. The book also presents an exploration of complexity theory and how automation can assist in the desire to shift left both the complexity of the problem and who can resolve it. The book emphasises that establishing the root cause of a problem is not the end of the process as the resolution options need to be evaluated and then prioritised alongside other improvements. It also explores the role of problem boards and checklists as well as the relationship between problem management and Lean thinking. This practical guide provides both a framework for tackling problems and a toolbox from which to select the right methodology once the type of problem being faced has been identified. In addition to reactive methods, it presents proactive activities designed to reduce the incidence of problems or to reduce their impact and complexity should they arise.Solving problems is often a combination of common sense and methodologies which may either be learnt the hard way or may be taught. This practical guide shows how to use problem solving tools and to understand how and when to apply them while upskilling IT staff and improving IT problem solving processes.

Foster, Grant S. / Grannell, Chris J., Essential Management Models: Tried and Tested Business Frameworks for Strategy, Customers and Growth. 176 pp. 2022:7 (Routledge, UK) <673-420>

ISBN 978-0-367-52187-5 paper ¥9,398.- (税込) GB£ 32.99 *

Essential Management Models is a compilation of business tools that actually work. It's a guide to the very best in practical management thinking. No reinventing the wheel, no management fads and no corporate word-bingo. Essential Management Models demystifies strategy tools and does so with attitude: the view that any decision is better than no decision. The book encourages you to "go on...decide" and provides you with reference on how to do so. Rather than a series of independent summaries, the book makes connections between frameworks to expose the overlaps and relationships between them. This is the key to what makes the exercise worthwhile, the tools useful and the book unique. Using diagrams extensively to explain key concepts, but without ever "dumbing down", the book is written for managers who get things done - or students who want to. If you've ever studied management or strategy before, Essential Management Models will enable you to go back to the models and use them to do a better job, or think more clearly. It will remind you of the interlinkages between the frameworks to really make them work as a coherent whole. If you've forgotten them, it will give you confidence to use them. If you've written them off as mere theory, we urge you to think again.

Franklin, Michael, Risk in the Film Business: Known Unknowns. (Routledge Research in the Creative and Cultural Industries) 336 pp. 2022:7 (Routledge, UK) <673-421>
ISBN 978-0-367-67530-1 hard ¥38,461.- (税込) GB£ 135.00 *

This book explores the complex, multifaceted and contested subject of risk in the film business. How risk is understood and managed has a substantial impact upon which films are financed, produced and seen. Founded on substantial original research accessing the highest level of industry practitioners, this book examines the intertwined activity of independents, large media companies including major studios, the international marketplace, and related audio-visual sectors such as high-end television. The book shows how risk is generally framed, or even intuited, rather than calculated, and that this process occurs across a sliding scale of formality. This work goes beyond broad creative industries characterisations of a "risky sector" and concentrations on Box Office return modelling, to provide a missing middle. This means a coherent analytic coverage of business organisation and project construction to address the complex practicalities that mobilise strategic operations in relation to risk, often in unseen business-to-business contexts. Informed by economic sociology's concepts addressing market assemblage and valuation, alongside applications of science and technology studies to media and communications, the book respects both the powerful roles of social and institutional actors, and affordances of new technologies in dealing with the persistent known unknown - the audience.Examining a persistent business issue in a new way, this book analyses top level industry practice through established mechanisms, and innovations like data analytics. The result is a book that will be essential reading for scholars with an interest in the film business as well as risk management more broadly.

Harrington, H. James / Benraouane, Sid, Managing Innovative Projects and Programs: Using the ISO 56000 Standards for Guidance and Implementation. (Management Handbooks for Results) 328 pp. 2022:7 (Productivity Pr., US) <673-423>
ISBN 978-1-03-219762-3 hard ¥15,381.- (税込) GB£ 53.99 *

It has been estimated that over 75% of the innovative projects that begin through the Innovation Management System (IMS) are either failures or they failed to produce the desired results. The biggest wastes most medium- to large-size organizations face are the waste of money, time, reputation, opportunity, and income that these failures are costing them. Following this book's recommendations could reduce this failure cost by as much as 70%. The purpose of this book is to provide a step-by-step procedure on how to process a medium- or large-size project, program, or product using an already-established IMS that considers the guidance given in ISO 56002:2019 - Innovation Management Systems Standard. Often the most complicated, complex, difficult, and challenging system used in an organization is the IMS. At the same time, it usually is the most important system because it is the one that generates most of the value-adding products for the organization, and it involves most of the key functions within the organization. The opportunity for failure in time and the impact on the organization is critical and often means the difference between success and bankruptcy. Throughout this book, the authors detail the high-impact inputs and activities that are required to process individual projects/programs/products through the innovation cycle. Although this book was prepared to address how medium to large projects, programs, and products proceed through the cycle, it also provides the framework that can be used for small organizations and simple innovation activities. Basically, the major difference between large- and small-impact innovation projects is that the small projects can accept more risks, require less formal documentation, use simpler communication systems, and require fewer resources. It's important to remember that the authors are addressing an existing IMS rather than trying to create an entirely new one. Currently, this is the only book geared for professionals responsible for managing innovative projects and programs using ISO 56002:2019 - Innovation Management - Innovation Management System - Guidance to provide a comprehensive management strategy and step-by-step plan and ISO 56004 Innovation Management Assessment -Guidance. It provides a comprehensive analysis of what is required from the time an opportunity is recognized to the time the customer is using the innovative product. The book also introduces a new Process modeling cloud service that allows you to drill down 5 levels from the system level to the job description level and includes free access to many of the book's best practice Process models.

Holt, Philip, Leading Lean by Living Lean: Changing How You Lead, Not Who You Are. 144 pp. 2022:7 (Routledge, UK) <673-425>

ISBN 978-1-03-217005-3 paper ¥9,113.- (税込) GB£ 31.99 *

In Leading Lean by Living Lean, Philip Holt details and explains what is probably the most important part of becoming a Lean Leader -- living and practicing what you preach. To do this you must believe in what you're doing, understand what it means and what you need to do, and do it every day. The author, through his engineering background, has fully embraced the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) model of Deming / Shewhart but has adapted David Bovis' Believe-Think-Feel-Act (BTFA) model to understand why logic and facts are very often not the principal players in the game of change. In this book, Holt author describes how you can take both the PDCA and BTFA models into account and has sectioned the book into three prime parts: 1. Head -- How you learn and understand the Lean principles and their application. 2. Hands -- How you practice Lean Leadership daily. 3. Heart -- How you internalize and believe in Lean Leadership. Through this book, you, the Lean practitioner, whether aspiring or experienced, will have everything that you need to "lead it," "do it," and "live it." The nature of this book is more "why to" than "how to" - the author knows that he cannot tell you how to lead, do, or live Lean; he can only explain why it is so important and share his knowledge, experiences, failures, and successes. This book isn't so much a self-help book as a self-reflection book and it can point you in the proper direction, but... the book won't change you; only you can change you! Essentially, with this book, the author wants those who think of Lean as a toolkit, who believe that Lean can be project managed, or who argue about Lean versus Six Sigma and misunderstand the fundamental depth of impact that true Lean Leadership has on an organization to be disabused of any or all of those notions. This book is aimed at those leaders who seek to experience the full transformative effects of Lean in their organizations and want to practice it at the principle level of deployment. Holt's aim is to help business leaders enhance who they are by changing what they do and the way that they do it

Machine Learning is an integral tool in a business analyst's arsenal because the rate at which data is being generated from different sources is increasing and working on complex unstructured data is becoming inevitable. Data collection, data cleaning, and data mining are rapidly becoming more difficult to analyze than just importing information from a primary or secondary source. The machine learning model plays a crucial role in predicting the future performance and results of a company. In real-time, data collection and data wrangling are the important steps in deploying the models. Analytics is a tool for visualizing and steering data and statistics. Business analysts can work with different datasets -- choosing an appropriate machine learning model results in accurate analyzing, forecasting the future, and making informed decisions. The global machine learning market was valued at $1.58 billion in 2017 and is expected to reach $20.83 billion in 2024 -- growing at a CAGR of 44.06% between 2017 and 2024. The authors have compiled important knowledge on machine learning real-time applications in business analytics. This book enables readers to get broad knowledge in the field of machine learning models and to carry out their future research work. The future trends of machine learning for business analytics are explained with real case studies. Essentially, this book acts as a guide to all business analysts. The authors blend the basics of data analytics and machine learning and extend its application to business analytics. This book acts as a superb introduction and covers the applications and implications of machine learning. The authors provide first-hand experience of the applications of machine learning for business analytics in the section on real-time analysis. Case studies put the theory into practice so that you may receive hands-on experience with machine learning and data analytics. Li, Yin, China's Drive for the Technology Frontier: Indigenous Innovation in the High-Tech Industry. (Routledge Frontiers of Business Management) 200 pp. 2022:7 (Routledge, UK) <673-432>
ISBN 978-0-367-74183-9 hard ¥38,461.- (税込) GB£ 135.00 *

China has become an innovation powerhouse in high-tech industries, but the widely held view assumes the Chinese model is built on technological borrowing and state capitalism. This book debunks the myths surrounding the Chinese model with a fresh take on China's strategies for technological innovation. The central argument is that indigenous innovation plays a critical role in transforming the Chinese high-tech industry. Like any successfully industrialized nation in history, indigenous innovation in China allows industrial enterprises to assimilate knowledge developed elsewhere, utilize science and technology resources and human capabilities accumulated in the country, and eventually approach the technological frontier. The question is, how do Chinese businesses and governments engage in indigenous innovation?Employing the "social conditions of innovative enterprise" framework developed by William Lazonick and colleagues, this book analyzes how the interaction of strategy, organization, and finance in leading Chinese high-tech firms underpinned by national institutions enables indigenous innovation with Chinese characteristics. It features detailed case studies of two critical high-tech industries-the telecom-equipment industry and the semiconductor industry-and within them, the business histories of leading Chinese innovators. The in-depth look into China's experience in indigenous innovation provides valuable lessons for advanced and emerging economies.

ISBN 978-1-4875-2751-8 hard ¥7,750.- (税込) US$ 35.95 *

Behavioral Science in the Wild helps managers understand how best to incorporate key research findings to solve their own behavior change challenges in the real world - from lab to field. Behavioral Science in the Wild helps managers to implement research findings on behavioral change in their own workplace operations and to apply them to business or policy problems. As the second book in the Behaviourally Informed Organizations series, Behavioral Science in the Wild takes a step back to address the "why" and "how" behind the origins of behavioral insights, and how best to translate and scale behavioral science from lab-based research findings. Governments, for-profit enterprises, and welfare organizations have increasingly started relying on findings from the behavioral sciences to develop more accessible and user-friendly products, processes, and experiences for their end-users. While there is a burgeoning science that helps us to understand why people act and make the decisions that they do, and how their actions can be influenced, we still lack a precise science and strategic insights into how some key theoretical findings can be successfully translated, scaled, and applied in the field. Nina Mazar and Dilip Soman are joined by leading figures from both the academic and applied behavioral sciences to develop a nuanced framework for how managers can best translate results from pilot studies into their own organizations and behavior change challenges using behavioral science.

Far away in the jungle of Africa every morning a deer wakes up and decides to run faster than the fastest lion in that jungle. In the same jungle every morning a lion wakes up and decides to run faster than the fattest deer in that jungle. Both the deer and the lion wake up with the aim to win. The deer wants to win to save its life. The lion wants to win to satisfy its hunger. They each have their reason to win. They are in the game for winning. None of them know whether or not they will win, yet they decide each day to win. Are you in the leadership game to win or are you just a player in the game? Do you wake up each morning deciding to win or do you wake up to go to work and simply complete your tasks? There is a huge difference between going to work to win and going to work to just be in the game. It is this difference that decides where each of us is on the growth ladder and where we will be. Those who are here to just be in the game are very concerned about their paycheck and job security. They fear taking risks and are overly cautious. These people view the game as an "I win, you lose" proposition. But those leaders who play to win, do whatever is necessary to move things forward. They're not reckless, but proactive. They make the call that they fear. They have difficult conversations. They deal with the tricky issues that may put their outcomes at risk if things go south on them. These are the people who wake up each morning with the will to win. They know that winning has nothing to do with power, status quo, position, or playing corporate politics. Winning is purely about being relentless and moving ahead in the game by focusing on your improvement and on the well-being of others. Winning is about having faith in yourself and in your abilities. Almost 75% of the people in the workforce get stuck at the mid-management level in the organization. These people have the best skills and abilities, yet aren't able to move the needle significantly. This is because they don't know what it takes to win and get unstuck. The purpose of the nine crucial laws described in this book is to guide you to methodologically win the leadership game. There are two ways of winning the game. One, by playing dirty corporate politics, bumping others to reach your goal, thinking solely about your growth, and being selfish. Another and better way is to work on transforming yourself so you improve in the game each day. The rules of business are changing. The game is evolving with speed. New markets are emerging. A new generation of workforce is entering the game. We have entered into a digitally transformed world. The new leadership game cannot be played with old rules and competencies. Working with some great leaders has shown me how a leader can move with agility, speed and flexibility to revamp the organization when faced with a business crisis. A leaders decisive and bold actions and their rapid and insightful response to crisis demonstrated the value of speed and serenity in setting a new course for their company. What are the new rules and competencies? How do we play and win the leadership game, every time?

Sadkowski, Wojciech / Jedynak, Piotr, Quality Management and Accounting in Service Industries: A New Model of Quality Cost Calculation. (Routledge Studies in Accounting) 208 pp. 2022:5 (Routledge, UK) <673-439>
ISBN 978-1-03-222981-2 hard ¥38,461.- (税込) GB£ 135.00 *

The process of globalisation in world markets, and the growing number of enterprises competing with one another in terms of the products and services they offer, naturally leads to the improved efficiency of management systems. Efficiency is required in order for these entities to maintain competitiveness. To assess the efficiency of their management systems, enterprises use quality cost calculation. This book fills the research gap concerned with the scientific study of the quality cost calculation, with regard to service companies. It offers the authors' concept of using the cost of quality calculation as a tool for assessing the efficiency of the management systems of service companies. The book consists of six chapters that present both a theoretical and an empirical part. In the theoretical part, the following issues are discussed: quality costs; the evolution of quality cost calculation; quality cost calculation models and their applications to date; and the specific way in which service companies operate. The practical part presents the authors' model of quality cost calculation along with the adopted assumptions and cost structure, as well as the research methodology and verification of the use of the developed model in a selected service company. The research gives credence to the role and importance of this tool in economic practice. The book will be desired reading by both theoreticians and practitioners of quality management and accounting. It is also a valuable resource for master's and doctoral students wishing to broaden their knowledge of quality costs and their calculation in the fields of economics and management. The Open Access version of this book, available at http://www.taylorfrancis.com, has been made available under a Creative Commons Attribution-Non Commercial-No Derivatives 4.0 license.

Samoilenko, Sergey V., Digitalization: Contexts, Roles, and Outcomes. 216 pp. 2022:7 (Routledge, UK) <673-440>
ISBN 978-1-03-211409-5 hard ¥28,486.- (税込) GB£ 99.99 *

Conceptually, as well as practically, digitalization is similar to the implementation of a modern computation model - the model may be a centralized setup using a mainframe or it may be extended to an N-tier architecture. Regardless of the specifics of the implementation, however, the conceptual model of data processing remains the same. Digitalization is nothing but a system relying on digital technologies to create, conduct and, potentially, expand a business activity of some sort. Digitalization can be used to create an e-commerce model for a small business or to create a global supply and distribution chain geared toward almost any kind of a business. It could also be used for non-profit purposes, such as on-line education and telemedicine or e-government.Digitalization: Contexts, Roles, and Outcomes is a contemplation and analysis of the socio-technical system that is known as digitalization. It considers the context of digitalization as well as the ways by which digitalization offers value to the context within which it operates. This book aims to offer readers an entry point to a path of inquiry into the different aspects of digitalization. The goal is to identify main directions for further inquiry as well as to outline the most obvious obstacles along the way. The book aims to guide readers on their own unique journeys using the basic ideas, principles, and concepts synthesized, developed, and presented in the book. It is beneficial to both practitioners and researchers. The book covers: The functionality of digitalization The significance of digitalization Identifying the context of digitalization Designing a control system A cognitive model for the theory of digitalization Designing a theory of digitalizationThe book helps readers to consider the subject of digitalization in a rigorous and rational way so their own perspectives can emerge stronger and be substantiated and reinforced by building an argument vis-a-vis perspectives and points examined in this book.

Design thinking is widely recognized as an alternative approach to innovation, but it can be challenging to implement, often conflicting with organizational structures, cultures, and processes. The practice of design thinking calls for a new mindset that moves past conventional approaches to innovation, and embraces ambiguity, risk-taking, and collaboration. Transform with Design presents examples of creative organizations across industries and geographies, and recounts the stories of how they adapted design thinking to build their innovation capabilities. Written by leading industry experts and design-thinking scholars, the book features ten anecdotal experiences by professionals who detail the implementation of design thinking as it unfolded for them. Contributors share how they navigated the many barriers and obstacles they encountered along the way and describe their experience from early beginnings to the present, revealing valuable lessons for anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation. Providing a rich tapestry of examples, anecdotes, and lessons that place design thinking in perspective, Transform with Design is for innovators interested in learning how design has transformed organizations while also gaining a current perspective on what others are doing in their field.

ISBN 978-1-03-220780-3 hard ¥38,461.- (税込) GB£ 135.00 *

Among the significant repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic is escalating public questioning of the desirability and sustainability of the market economy and the societal role of business. These concerns are linked to merger and acquisition (M&A) activity, with significant disruptive consequences for stakeholder relationships and their management. This book explores these changes, moving away from the traditional focus on the financial and strategic aspects of M&A and its rational, technocratic approach.Viewing M&A activity as economic, political, and social (EPS) processes, Segal provides a dialectic understanding of stakeholder relationships around M&A activity and challenges the view that M&A activity is static, linear, and predictable. He develops a conceptual framework to enable practitioners, researchers and policymakers to identify, understand and address the stakeholder and management implications of M&A activity. This is applied to four case studies that make explicit how complex stakeholder relationships play out around M&A and how these power dynamics were managed with different balances.Useful for academics, researchers, managers, advisors, investors, analysts, and other stakeholders, this book highlights the need to understand the EPS implications and processes involved around M&A.

A pragmatic framework for nonprofit digital transformation that embraces the human-centered nature of your organization The Smart Nonprofit turns the page on an era of frantic busyness and scarcity mindsets to one in which nonprofit organizations have the time to think and plan - and even dream. The Smart Nonprofit offers a roadmap for the once-in-a-generation opportunity to remake work and accelerate positive social change. It comes from understanding how to use smart tech strategically, ethically and well. Smart tech does rote tasks like filling out expense reports and identifying prospective donors. However, it is also beginning to do very human things like screening applicants for jobs and social services, while paying forward historic biases. Beth Kanter and Allison Fine elegantly outline the ways smart nonprofits must stay human-centered and root out embedded bias in order to success at the compassionate and creative work that only humans can and should do.
