政界と深いつながりを持ち､〈アメリカ映画製作配給者協会 MPPDA〉の会長をつとめたヘイズ(William Harrison Hays, 1879－1954）の､ 映画産業と共和党とに関する文書集です｡ヘイズは共和党全国執行委員会の議長（1918－1921)､ 郵便電信公社総裁（1921－1922）の経歴を持つ一方､ 1922年から1945年までMPPDAの会長をつとめ､ 彼の在任中のMPPDAは"Hays Office"と呼ばれ､ ヘイズ規則としてしられる"Hays Code" を定め､ 映倫の役目を果たしました｡
