Corporate Tax Avoidance in China addresses a critical gap in understanding taxation within the world's second-largest economy. As China undergoes rapid economic transformation, its increasingly sophisticated tax system has attracted attention from international investors seeking opportunities in this dynamic market. Yet few books offer students, academics, and practitioners a comprehensive guide to the forces shaping corporate tax avoidance in China.
This volume fills that gap through six complementary chapters investigating novel determinants spanning geographic, technological, organizational, and regulatory dimensions. Drawing on interdisciplinary perspectives, the book examines how local information environments, institutional infrastructures, individual leader characteristics, and cross-domain policy interactions collectively shape corporate tax outcomes, reflecting the increasing diversity of contemporary tax research in China.
This prestigious reference work offers students, academics, and business professionals, whether from Western companies or developing countries, an authoritative introduction to corporate tax avoidance in the world's most dynamic emerging market, essential for those doing business with Chinese firms or establishing subsidiaries in China.

This book argues for workplace democracy on the grounds that it supports the development of fundamental human goods such as personal autonomy, self-development, and communal solidarity.
Workplace democracy is an old, but reinvigorated, idea that business firms should be organized democratically. Many proponents of workplace democracy contend that the organization of business firms should be consistent with the liberal/republican value of equal freedom that animates Western democracies. However, these arguments undersell the idea of workplace democracy by ignoring its significant moral, social, and psychological benefits. This book advances a novel, goods-based argument for workplace democracy. It engages with a wide range of psychological, sociological, and health-related data that point out the importance of the fundamental goods of personal autonomy, communal solidarity, and self-development to the flourishing or well-being of individuals, along with workplace democracy's ability to provide access to those goods. This is an important justification for workplace democracy that has been largely ignored.
The Good of Workplace Democracy is a philosophically rigorous, but empirically informed, book that approaches workplace democracy from the perspective of a normative commitment to promote goods fundamental to human well-being or flourishing. It will appeal to researchers and graduate students working in social and political philosophy, business ethics, sociology, organizational psychology, management studies, and economics.

Most research has analyzed and discussed supply chain phenomena at the macro-organizational level so far. However, this book addresses these phenomena at the micro-individual level. The reason is that, given the diversifying challenges in supply chain management (SCM), relying only on a few SCM leaders such as SCM professionals and top executives is risky, and it is essential to encourage the behaviors of SCM followers belonging to various departments (e.g., production, logistics, purchasing, sales, and product development) and trading partners (e.g., suppliers and customers).
Through this book, the authors insist that all individuals participating in supply chain integration (SCI) activities need to contribute to achieving a challenging, common purpose through interactions among individuals. First, this book organizes a multilevel model of SCI, encompassing both organizational and individual levels. After that, this book provides a detailed explanation of the relationships among variables at the individual level. The individual-level model consists of four variables: antecedents, mediating/moderating factors, work behaviors, and individual outcomes. These variables are established based on insights from organizational behavior theory. The authors then demonstrate the validity of the aforementioned model through empirical study and apply the followership theory to individual-level supply chain behaviors.

Organisations currently face fundamental changes such as technological innovations; global power shifts and tensions; changing economic systems; and socio-cultural tensions. These conditions compel them to ask identity-related questions like: Who are we? Why do we exist, and for whom? What are our aspirations? and What difference do we want to make for whom, where, and when? Intended for organisational leaders and organisational effectiveness advisors, this book is the first substantive guide on how to center and apply the values of organisational identity--such as virtue, authenticity, coherence, and legitimacy--so that leaders can transform their organisations into identity-driven entities and to stay true to who they are through changing times.

Despite the growing population and significant natural resources of Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), economies in that region currently represent only 2% of global GDP. Finished goods are imported to Africa from the US, Europe, China and Japan, while commodities remain the primary export. Addressing this balance must be the primary focus of initiatives to foster economic growth and development across the region in the coming years. However, there is currently a lack of intellectual discourse that incorporates diverse firm-level and institutional-level theories, as well as the stakeholder perspective, to explain the transformation of Sub-Saharan Africa into a production economy. This two-volume edited work brings together scholars of business in Africa and economic transformation to discuss topics including the knowledge economy, inter-regional relations, supply chains, the informal economy, the service sector and more, creating a broad and probing analysis of Africa's potential for transformation and strategies to achieve it.
This second volume explores the relationship between institutions and sectoral productivity in SSA, emphasising the need for policies that integrate informal economy players into the formal structure to enhance socio-economic development. The volume suggest that strong governance, aligned policies, and the inclusion of informal sector innovations are crucial for improving productivity and achieving sustainable economic transformation in SSA. It will be of interest to scholars of business in Africa, international business, developing economies, business strategy and innovation.

This book contains a selection of papers carefully chosen from among those presented at the 6th International Conference on Production Management held in Taiwan in August 2025. The unified theme of the conference was "DX Thinking and Innovation in Production Management," and presentations were based on three areas of research: 1) operations and supply chain management, 2) business strategy and business management, and 3) information technology and its applications. Readers will see how these three fields deal with the creation of innovation that incorporates digital transformation (abbreviated as "DX") thinking in the management of business and production.
This valuable resource is relevant not only for researchers, university professors, and graduate and undergraduate students interested in production and business management in general, but also for businesspeople themselves. With its unified theme, the book provides a trove of facts and applications in both theory and practice.

This book helps to expand the global research scope of rural gentrification and promotes dialogue between China and the West on this topic. Focusing on rural China and using data collected through pro-longed ethnographic fieldwork, this book reveals the production and consumption of rural tourism gentrification from the perspective of middle-class gentrifiers. It explores the socio-demographic characteristics, motivations, and landscape practices of the middle-class gentrifiers, and the socioeconomic effects it brings to the rural villages, which differ significantly from rural gentrification in the Western context. Government efforts to promote rural revitalization will benefit greatly from the Chinese cases set out in this study. Therefore, this book is suitable for scholars, policymakers, government officials, and students interested in rural transformation and rural gentrification.

This volume explores the transformative role of digital cultural heritage in shaping sustainable cultural tourism. It examines how innovations such as 3D reconstructions, immersive media, and memory twins-digital counterparts of monuments and artefacts-enhance visitor engagement and protect fragile sites. By linking physical heritage with digital narratives, the book demonstrates how technology fosters informed, meaningful tourism experiences while addressing challenges like overtourism and environmental stress. Featuring peer-reviewed contributions from the EuroMed2024 workshop under the UNESCO Chair on Digital Cultural Heritage, it bridges theory, policy, and practice. This resource offers scholars, policymakers, and practitioners actionable insights into managing cultural tourism in the digital era, aligning heritage preservation with the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Over the last decades, climate change has significantly increased the awareness of sustainable business practices. Consequently, companies are under growing pressure to implement sustainability measures and to take responsibility for the environment. While the focus has been on B2C companies, attention is increasingly shifting to companies in the B2B sector, as their activities have a particularly high environmental impact. To remain competitive, these companies must not only integrate sustainability into their operational practices but also make it an integral part of their brand. However, the credibility of sustainability efforts is often perceived as questionable, especially for companies in CO2-intensive industries, creating a gap between perceived and actual sustainability. As a result, business opportunities remain untapped, making corporate sustainability investments less economically viable. While the economic significance of sustainability in brand management has been extensively studied, this book identifies a lack of holistic approaches to the sustainability transformation of brands in B2B, particularly those in CO2-intensive industries. To address this research gap, three studies have been conducted as part of this book.
The findings reveal that a transparent handling of the past and fundamentally reshaping the business model are essential for successfully achieving a brand sustainability transformation in these challenging industries.
